The Tarot archetypes are simply pictures representing life and the stages and experiences we all go Energy Light from birth until death.  They are symbols of all life cycles. The Pentacles (also called coins or disks in some decks) archetypes are those of Earth and Sensing.  Pentacles are also called the Coins, the Disks.  The nature of the Pentacles is to experience all that is tangible.  Keywords for Pentacles include:  business, finance, money, material gain or loss, inheritance, values, the senses.

As we travel Energy Light the cycles of life, we use different parts of our being, the personality or spirit.  Those personality functions are pictured by archetype in the 56 cards in the four suits of the Tarot, (Wands, Swords, Cups, and Pentacles).  We also encounter events and people who fit the symbolic archetypes.  Carl Jung described the archetypes as:

Pentacles represent the material affairs of life. The day to day affairs which we all have to experience. How you are handling your thoughts and feelings will be reflected into this basic level. The material world is important, and when it is balanced with spiritual understanding, we discover happiness and contentment within our daily lives.

Represents the body and the physical. Best known for representing health and money, but is also anything to do with work, a job, a task, a craft. Also luck. That which is solid, real.

The pentacle symbology advises the conditions which are occurring within the life. The eight of pentacles represents working hard to obtain your goals. The five of pentacles shows you are feeling left out in the cold, either economically or socially. The six of pentacles shows the Law of Karma is reflected into this level and you must put out  in order to receive back. The pentacles not only represent the economic conditions but social conditions, and how you are reacting to the day to day conditions in your life.

One is called to comply with the desires of others.  Represents the one who is aware of, or called to be aware of,  responsibilities to others and that others are observing.

Holding on tightly to what one has. This can be material possessions or it can be emotions.   
Save or spend?  Express or withhold feelings? The call is to choose to hang on or to let go.

Five of Pentacles

hardship, chaos - ruin, rejection
ill health - isolation, lonely
spiritual uncertainty
Out In the cold
Lack of money, or isolated from social activities. One's own thinking and actions or reaction is the cause.  The higher self is needed to enter the mainstream of life again.

Six of Pentacles

inequality, imbalance of power - caste structures
luck, good news
pay bills - collect debts
Having to put out.  Because of the law of Karma one is called to now put out or give back.  This may be monetary, or of time and energy. No matter what form it takes you will find at a later date, you will receive back.  But now you must give.

Seven of Pentacles

change direction - risk, debts
work not done
something overlooked
The call is to keep on, you’ll soon be finished with your project. One becomes tired and feels it is never finished. This is a call to evaluate and assess. The end looks much further away than it actually is, so keep on going because soon you will receive the reward of completion.

Eight of Pentacles

The call is to persist and Work steadfastly, consistently. New skill talent, knowledge, or change may be needed to continue.  The challenge may be to add a new phase, adapt, revise or adjust based on evaluation or assessment.

disciplined - wisdom, comfort
Contentment and peace of mind.
One has created peace and contentment  by working hard to achieve a place for one's self where peace and quiet can be enjoyed, without worry about material affairs.  The call is to create this and know that you are safe and secure in the world.

Ten of Pentacles

family, inherit - strong family ties
potential, talent
completion
Material success and well-being. Family well-being is the dominant force here. The call is for youth not to turn their back to the wisdom and accomplishment of the ages. Dissention between them will soon pass; happiness and material well-being will  again dominate.

A message about money, luck, or an unexpected turn toward good health. Too absorbed in an idea, situation, project.  Focused on one material or worldly aspect to the exclusion of spirit, soul, relationships, or others.  Not seeing the beauty of the trees or the smell of the flowers. The call is to deliver the work and the message with focus, send or receive the learning and then move on.  

Knight of Pentacles

Sitting still, while surveying where one wants to go. Not moving. Knows what to do, but has not started. Having the correct ideas, but so far lacks the motivation. The call is to sow the fields so one can be sure of the harvest. Get moving and put one ideas out into the world.

Material attainment.  One has achieved material success. One has fought to achieve this position and will fight to maintain it.
